Meet Rob
Rob Schmertz grew up in Roslyn, then moved to Old Westbury to start a family. After building a successful career and raising a family, he’s returned to his Roslyn roots, where he’s excited to start the next chapter of his life.
Rob's entrepreneurial journey began with owning his own shoe store, Shoe Biz, where he gained valuable experience in sales, merchandising, and business management. He later became the Brand Director at Steve Madden, where he played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the brand, overseeing everything from marketing and advertising to management and sales. His creative mindset and strategic approach helped elevate the company’s presence in the competitive footwear industry.
After retiring, Rob discovered his passion for residential real estate. Eager to channel his creativity and love for design and architecture, he is eager to join The Scout Residential Team at Compass. With extensive business experience and a natural ability to connect with people, Rob brings a unique perspective to the real estate market, offering personalized service and a sharp eye for potential.
Rob has been happily married to his wife, Debby, for nearly 40 years. Together, they have three children and recently welcomed their first grandchild. Their strong family values inspire Rob both personally and professionally, and he cherishes the time spent with his loved ones.
Rob holds a BBA in Finance and an MBA in Marketing from George Washington University.
